Welcome to You Press!

Empowering young people to find their voices through writing and creative arts

Meet our multi talented artists, musicians, poets, students, filmmakers, photographers and producers who worked very hard (voluntary) with us to create an original project album called ‘I Remember Srebrenica’. The album is deeply inspired and drawn from the lessons learned from the survivors of the Bosnian Genocide; one of the greatest atrocity in Europe since WWII.

This album will take you on an emotional journey to understand the strength of the human spirit and the bravery that comes with courage, hope and love. We Remember Srebrenica and this album is dedicated to all the innocent victims and survivors of the Bosnian Genocide.

Each successive performance (at our ‘I Remember Srebrenica’ event) reflected the artist’s personal style and reflections on the Srebrenica genocide that was performed with a deep respect for the victims and their families. The variety and power of the work led to an audience moving between tears and appreciative cheering and support for the survivors in attendance and the artists as they left the stage. 😊

This was a grassroots project and we are very grateful to all our kind-hearted and generous supporters from around the world who had donated to our crowd-funding campaign. Without their belief in our project, our event would not have been possible. A special thank you goes to the @launchgood team who helped us to create a powerful crowd-funding campaign to secure the funding that we needed to deliver our event! 😊

‘I Remember Srebrenica’ was one of our most meaningful and impactful project that we had the honour of delivering. On the night of the event, our talented artists performed their creative work to an audience over 130 people, a staggering and inspiring amount of people. Together the artists took the audience on an emotional journey through the creative arts to understand the impacts of hatred and intolerance. The atmosphere on the night was incredible. Our event kicked-off with a powerful documentary film (shot during our trip to Bosnia). Just after the screening of the documentary film, Resad Trbonja, the survivors and the Remembering Srebrenica team arrived to our event and received a warm standing ovation. What followed were a collection of powerful performances that had a profound impact on the audience, and set the mood for the entire evening. 😊

After the success of our tester event we decided to deliver a bigger event to reach a wider audience (especially young people) during the Memorial Month. In order to properly honour the victims and survivors of the Bosnian Genocide and War. This is a small collections of photos taken during those rehearsal sessions. Our gratitude goes to Queen Victoria Seamen’s Rest & Oxford House for providing us a space to rehearse and prepare for our event! ⭐️

At our tester event, we took our audience / guests on an emotional journey to learn and understand what happened to the innocent victims of the Bosnian Genocide. The money that was raised from the tester event was donated to the mothers of Srebrenica who were directly affected by the Genocide.
